Sony Claims They're Not Working on PSP2

I've always liked the PSP hardware, but iterations like the PSP-3000 are failing to excite me. I just need something new. Unfortunately, Sony claims to not be working on a PSP sequel at this time. From SCEE President David Reeves:
No, there are currently no plans for a PSP2. I go to Tokyo quite a lot and no one has referred to it...We just launched the PSP-3000 so we are still focused on this generation of the platform.
Reeves goes on the discuss the platform's dichotic hardware success and software failure, admitting that even Sony's own development teams aren't creating titles for the PSP. Though, it's pretty hard to believe that not one person in all of Sony is doing ANYTHING toward a PSP2 development. As much as I'd like to see a new PSP, the things I'd want (touchscreen, 3G media downloads and 100% remote play compatibility over a universal digital PS3/PSP library) are just outside the reach of anything currently affordable to consumers or implementable by Sony.

Sony Shows Off Completely Wireless OLED TV [OLED TV]

Now not only can you get Sony's OLED TV for the bargain bin price of $1,748, you'll also soon be able to make that 11-inch hunk of visual sexiness completely wireless. Sony recently revealed a completely cordless version of the XEL-1 with an integrated HDTV tuner, a battery, and a wall mount. No specific information about the timing and price of the “I've got no strings” version, but Sony promises it'll be out "soon."

Funai (Sylvania, Symphonic and Emerson) Will Sell HDTVs With Blu-rays In 'Em [HDTV]

Funai, whose subsidiaries are more familiar to us as Sylvania, Symphonic and Emerson, is planning on selling LCD HDTVs with Blu-rays on-board starting summer 2009. The company's previous successes in recent years with combo units (TVs with VCRs and TVs with DVDs) totaled up 40% and 20% of their sales in the US respectively. So how much will this low-end brand charge you for the all-in-one experience? CrunchGear says the target price for a 42-inch will be between $1100 and $1300. Keep in mind that's a price for something launching a year from now. [CrunchGear] Update: Funai also took over the Phlips TV brand in the US, which means you might be seeing this under their name as well.

Lightning Review: Sony Vaio LT All-In-One (Powerful, But Expensive)

The Gadget: The Sony VAIO LT is an attractive all-in-one that has a 22-inch, 1680x1050 widescreen display, BD-RW drive, integrated webcam, wireless keyboard and mouse, an external cable card tuner and Vista Media Center, powered by a 2.5 GHz Core 2 Duo processor and 4 GB RAM.
The Price: $3300 as tested. The Verdict: The Vaio LT is a solid computer with alot of good features. It's easy enough on the eyes that it could be placed in a kitchen or bedroom (it can also be VESA mounted), but it is hardly underpowered. Blu-ray playback provided a nice picture, and watching HD via CableCard was crisp and clear. Rarely, if ever, did I experience slowdown while using many of the media features, showing the hardware is up to the task. The integrated 1.3 MP webcam is up to par with similar offerings, and the speakers provide good audio in most settings. Despite it's TV-esque appearance, there are no inputs for VGA or component video, meaning hooking up a game console or laptop is out of the question. But looks and power come with a price. The low end model does start as low as $2000, but it only has a 1.6 GHz processor and 3 GB RAM. The high end model, with the Penryn processor, Cable card tuner and 4 GB RAM, will run you $3300. But hardware alone, the VAIO LT is a solid choice for a media PC.
